Understanding Dingoes 1: Crowing

This is the first in a series of blogs based on Berenice’s knowledge of dingoes drawn from her experience and observations.

She was often consulted on dingo problems and one of the saddest was when a much-troubled gentleman told her about a Dingo he had met.

The dingo was kept on a chain, and when visitors came the "gentleman" who owned him would take visitors to see his Dingo.

As is the custom of the breed it ''crowed" (a soft, friendly growling-type sound), and its owner promptly kicked it savagely for being aggressive.

Yet this is the breeds way of showing a friendly welcome. How miserable that dog's life must have been.
